Catholic Edges Gettysburg

Cardinals hold on for 5-4 victory

WASHINGTON, D.C.  – Senior Samantha Boardman (Greenwich, Conn./Brooks School) picked up wins at first singles and first doubles, but the Gettysburg College women's tennis team fell just shy of a team victory with a 5-4 loss at Catholic University Saturday afternoon.

Match Recap
Catholic jumped out with the first two doubles wins, but the Bullets prevented a sweep as Boardman and Rieg pulled out a 7-2 tiebreaker for the victory at the top flight.
 
In singles play, the teams split the first four matches with Boardman and Rieg ringing up 7-5, 6-2 and 4-6, 6-1, 6-3 wins at the first and third flights, respectively. Gettysburg tied the contest on a come-from-behind win by Rinker at No. 4, but the Cardinals clinched the team victory with a straight-set win by Hannah Scali over Deron.
 
Where the Series Stands Now
Catholic ended a two-match losing skid to Gettysburg and sliced the Bullets' lead in the all-time series to 13-7.
