Game Notes

The Franklin & Marshall men's soccer team (7-1-2, 3-0-1 CC) looks to continue building momentum entering the two games they play this week. F&M starts a two-game road trip against Rosemont (3-1-3) Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. On Saturday, the Diplomats travel to play No. 21 Gettysburg (6-1-2, 2-1-1 CC) at 7:00 p.m.

Last Week

F&M, who's continuing to receive votes in the national poll, defeated Muhlenberg 2-1 Wednesday evening. Koa Kaliebe helped push the Diplomats past the Mules by contributing three points (one goal, one assist) in the match. Oscar Howitz had the opening goal in the 23rd minute. Kaliebe buried the Diplomats' second goal of the match in the 65th minute off a feed from Jordan Samuels. The assist was Samuels first career point. Sam Farrell made eight saves in the victory. The Diplomats continued rolling with a 2-1 victory over Dickinson Saturday evening. Once again, Horwitz scored the opening goal of the game. Philip Monos earned an assist on the play, tying him with Kaliebe for the team-high in assists with three. F&M added on to the lead in the 26th minute on a corner kick sent into the box by Shay Adamson. Horwitz headed the initial pass back into the middle of the box to find Samuels in front of the net. Samuels buried the header to score his first collegiate goal. F&M outshot Dickinson in the match, 14-9. Read the recap here.

Last Time

The 16th-ranked Diplomats fell to the Bullets 2-0 in their 2021 match. Even though F&M put eight shots on goal, nobody could find the back of the net for the Diplomats in the contest. Christian Avila Neres '21 recorded three shots on goal in the match. Read the recap here.

F&M beat Gettysburg twice during the 2019 season. The teams first squared off in a regular season match that saw the fourth-ranked Diplomats take down Gettysburg, 2-0. Shay Adamson headed in the opening goal during the 52nd minute off a corner kick. The Diplomats padded the lead after Alex Lalovic '20 drew a foul in the box. A.J. Kopacz '21 stepped up to take the penalty kick, in which he converted for his 10th goal of the fall. Christopher Amoruso '19 recorded five saves to keep the Bullets off the scoreboard. The No. 4 Diplomats met Gettysburg again in the 2019 CC Semifinals, where F&M once again shutout the Bullets, 3-0. Franklin & Marshall scored three second-half goals, started by Shay Adamson's strike in the 68th minute. Christian Avila Neres '21 and Connor Whitacre '19 added the other two scores for the Diplomats. Christopher Amoruso '19 made four saves to complete the shutout. Read the recap here.

Rosemont Team Preview

The Ravens enter Wednesday game after recording three consecutive draws to Albright, Arcadia, and Immaculata. Forward Clayton Crosse leads the team in points (14) and goals (seven) this season. Goalkeeper Brady Hochman has a 1.08 goals-against average and a save percentage of 74.9 percent.

Gettysburg Team Preview

No. 21 Gettysburg defeated Dickinson, 3-1, before falling to No. 6 Johns Johns Hopkins, 1-0, last week. Gettysburg also beat Ursinus, 2-1, and tied Swarthmore, 1-1, in their other CC matches this season. Forward Jack Carroll leads the Bullets in points (10) and goals (five) this fall. Goalkeeper Kevin Muhic averages one goal-allowed per game, and holds a 66.7 save percentage.
