HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Haverford men's basketball team (2-2) was outlasted in an early-season contest against Eastern (2-2), at Gooding '84 Arena, falling by a final of 62-47 after Eastern's second-half push.

Ryan Trotter (12), Charlie Mamlin (11), and Josh Love (10) all finished in double figures to lead the Fords. Love hauled in eight rebounds while Gabe Franklin followed him with six. Although the Fords won the rebounding battle 38-35, the turnovers proved to be costly in the end. Haverford finished the game with 23 turnovers while Eastern finished with only 12.

Thanks to an 8-0 run with 8:15 left to play in the first half, Haverford got out in front of the Eagles in the early goings. Mamlin connected from the three-point line on back-to-back possessions with just under four minutes left to play in the first half. That spurt gave Haverford a ten-point lead, their most significant lead of the night.

William Blet scored Eastern's final four points of the half as the team clawed their way back into the game after an 8-0 run of their own. The teams were evenly matched, with the halftime score sitting at 28-26 in favor of Haverford. Both teams  were even on points in the paint (10), second-chance points (4), and fast-break points (2) at the intermission.

The second half was a hard-fought stanza, but Eastern took the lead early and never looked back. Including the end of the first half and the first four shots from Eastern in the second half, the Eagles were on a 16-0 run when Harry Johnson finally brought that stretch to an end. Johnson finished the game with seven points and four rebounds off the bench for Haverford.

Eastern stretched its lead out to 13 with ten minutes left to play, but a Haverford run, thanks to clutch buckets from Mamlin and Johnson, cut that lead to just five in two minutes. However, that would be the last time Haverford would get that close, as Eastern comfortably saw the game out in the final minutes., connecting on

Haverford returns to action with another home contest inside Gooding '84 Arena on Saturday, November 20, as the Fords take on Rosemont. Tip-off time for that contest is slated for 3 p.m, following the women's team taking on Dickinson in the conference opener at Gooding '84 Arena.
