• The Short Story: Eleventh-ranked Kenyon topped the host and 24^th-ranked Johns Hopkins men's tennis team, 5-2, on Saturday afternoon in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
 
How it Happened
• Kenyon picked up the first point of the match when Austin Diehl and Jacob Zalenski beat sophomore Vishnu Joshi and junior Vik Vasan, 8-2, at third doubles. Juniors Joe Cartledge and Austin Gu answered for Hopkins and tied the match with an 8-6 win over Anatol Doroskevic and Pascal Lee at first. Henry Barrett and Nicholas Paolucci grabbed the lead back for the Lords with an 8-6 win at second over junior Aaron Carey and senior Scott Thygesen.
• Carey was the first one off the court in singles as he beat Jack Wagner 6-1, 6-3 at sixth to tie the match at two. Zalenski put Kenyon back on top, 3-2, when he defeated Joshi 6-1, 6-4 at first.
• The final four matches all came down to the third set. Bryan Yoshino came from behind at fourth to defeat Cartledge 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 and stake the Lords to a 4-2 lead. Diehl then clinched the win for Kenyon with a 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 win over Gu at second.
 
What it Means
• Hopkins falls to 1-2 all-time against Kenyon, with the last two meetings coming in the NCAA Tournament.
• The Blue Jays finish the season with 17 wins and have won at least 17 matches in each of the last 10 seasons.
• Cartledge earned his 45^th career doubles win and is now tied for 19^th in school history.
