Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer Reaches ECAC Final

Senior Matthew Athanas-Linden scored off a free kick in the seventh minute of overtime to give the Muhlenberg men's soccer team a 1-0 win against Widener in an ECAC Tournament semifinal.

With the win, the Mules (12-6-2) advance to the ECAC championship game against Kean, a 2-1 winner against host Stevenson in the first semifinal.

The winning goal was set up when senior Zach Cimring was tripped by a Widener player just outside the box. Athanas-Linden (pictured above) sent in a low ball that deflected off a member of the Pride wall and into the net.

The goal was the 11th of Athanas-Linden's career and the first postseason "Golden Goal" for Muhlenberg since 2010.

Muhlenberg had an 18-8 advantage in shots in the match, which was played in pouring rain. Senior Raymond Leto recorded 6 saves for his seventh career shutout.

The Mules tied a school record, set in 1995 and tied in 2014, with their third postseason win.
