HAVERFORD, Pa. – Senior Alex Petrecca (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Warde) placed 33rd out of 99 runners to lead the Gettysburg College men's cross country team to a sixth-place finish at the Centennial Conference (CC) Championships on Saturday at Haverford College.
Petrecca ran the 8,000-meter course in 27:09 to help the Bullets finish with 155 points, placing the squad in front of Ursinus College (179), McDaniel College (250), and Franklin & Marshall College (254).
Fourth-ranked Haverford College scored 34 points and won its fifth-straight CC title while 6th-ranked Johns Hopkins University (35), 24th-ranked Dickinson College (79), Swarthmore College (137), and Muhlenberg College (151) rounded out the team scoring.
Running under rainy, wet, and muddy conditions, sophomore Dylan McKeever (Furlong, Pa./Central Bucks East) placed 35th with a PR time of 27:10. Following right behind was senior Mike Miller (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) who took 36th in 27:11 while senior Matt Robinson (Taneytown, Md./Pinkerton Academy [N.H.]) was 45th in 27:55. Junior Jonathan Gronke (Morris Plains, N.J./Morristown) completed the team scoring, taking 53rd in 28:14.
Finishing as displacers for Gettysburg were junior Aren Heitmann (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Ludlowe), who was 59th in 28:33, and freshman Patrick Neighbour (Milford, N.J./Delaware Valley Regional), who finished 60th in 28:38.
Eric Herrmann of Dickinson won the race in 25:13.
The Bullets take a week off before running at the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional on Saturday, Nov. 10 at DeSales University in Center Valley, Pa.
