How it Happened
• McDaniel got to Jack Bunting early, scoring four runs in the bottom of the first. The Green Terror got three straight singles with one out to plate two runs and a triple from Evan Finch plated the other two McDaniel runs in the inning.
• Nate Davis led off the top of the second with a home run to left to bring JHU to within three. Adam Kohl led off the next inning with a triple and scored the second Blue Jay run of the day on a sacrifice fly from Tim Kutcher to make the score 4-2.
• The Green Terror got the two runs back in the bottom of the third on an RBI groundout from Finch and an RBI single from T.J. McGuire to make the score 6-2.
• An RBI groundout from Matthew Ritchie in the top of the fourth cut the home team's lead to 6-3 and a three-run fifth from the Blue Jays tied the game at six. A Mike Eberle fielder's choice scored Kohl and Chris Festa followed with a single to plate Kutcher, and Davis tied the game at six with a sacrifice fly to deep left field.
• McDaniel quickly regained the lead in the bottom of the inning on a triple from Jarod Pezzano that gave the home team a 7-6 lead, but once again Hopkins responded to tie the game as in the top of the sixth the Blue Jays took advantage of another McDaniel error to even the score.
• The Green Terror threatened in the bottom of the sixth as they led off with back-to-back singles to put runners on the corners with no outs, however, Josh Hejka came in and got a strikeout and a double play to end the inning.
• The top of the eighth was the inning for Hopkins as the Blue Jays put up seven runs to take control of the game. Eberle gave JHU the lead with a sacrifice fly and Festa followed with a two-run single to make the score 10-7. Davis and Mark Lopez each recorded RBIs to put Johns Hopkins up 12-7 and AJ King and Ritchie followed with run-scoring hits of their own to make the score 14-7.
• The Blue Jays added two more runs in the ninth on an RBI double from Davis and a bases-loaded walk from James Ingram which made the score 16-7.
• McDaniel got two runs in the ninth to make the score 16-9, but Seamus Ryan-Johnson got Colin Franke swinging to end the game.
