A win by "jump off" highlighted a strong day of competition by the Muhlenberg track and field teams at the famed Armory in New York City.
The Mules combined for 12 top 10 finishes - including seven in the jumps - at the meet, which featured 34 teams. The men came in third in the team scoring, behind only two nationally ranked teams (Johns Hopkins and Mount Union), while the women were 12th.
Junior
Alana Noehrenberg worked overtime to win the high jump. After she tied with a Misericordia competitor for first place at 4-11, the event went to a jump off to determine the winner. Noehrenberg
(pictured above left) cleared a personal best 5-0¼ to claim first place. The height landed her in 10th place on the Muhlenberg all-time performance list.
Sophomore
Abby Dalton also entered the performance list with a huge personal best. She came in ninth in the mile at 5:16.10, cutting nearly three-and-a-half seconds off her previous best of 5:19.51. It was the sixth-best mile in program history.
Improving their standings on the performance list were sophomore
Adebisi Adetoye (10th to seventh in the 400), sophomore
Sam Morgan (eighth to seventh in the 800), senior
Jason Richwall (third to second in the 3000) and freshman
John Panny (seventh to fourth in the triple jump).
Morgan
(pictured above right) came in second in a huge field of 92 runners. Richwall knocked almost eight seconds off his previous best of 8:43.05, crossing the finish line in third place at 8:35.16.
Panny was second in the triple jump and sixth in the long jump.
