Men's Basketball concludes historic season in the NCAA Tournament First Round

Swarthmore, PA - Men's Basketballs end their season in the first round of the DIII NCAA Tournament after a 93-64 loss to hosts Swarthmore. After making the DIII Tournament for the first time since joining the NCAA, SUNY Delhi ends its very successful 2022-23 season on a solid note.

The Broncos would jump to an early lead in the first, attacking and pressing early. Swarthmore would go onto two scoring runs in the first half which stretched the Garnet lead to 53-34 as the rest of the half was back-and-forth. Delhi shot the ball well going five-for-sixteen from deep but the more experienced Swarthmore would dominate on the rebounds, doubling the Bronco's first-half tally of 13. Marven Louissaint would lead the team in points off the bench, pouring in 10 points with three baskets from deep.

In the second half, Sawrthmore would stretch their lead as the Broncos had 10 different scores to get a basket. They would only be outscored 40-30 in the second half, ending the game with a score of 93-64.

Delhi ended with four players who scored in the double digits. Senior Jacob Beach had the team high 12 points, while Lester McCarthy and Mavenson Therneus added 10 each and Louissaint 11. Therneus was just one point shy of a double-double in his final game in the green and gold.

"It's been an unbelievable year," said head coach Zack Thomsen, "I'm extremely proud of our team. We battled all season long and tonight was no different. We'll be back and next time we'll get a win!"
