No. 15 Garnet Cruise Past Gettysburg

GETTYSBURG, Pa.—Swarthmore College Men's Basketball, now ranked No. 15 in the nation according to the latest poll, dismantled the Gettysburg College Bullets 77-47 on the road Tuesday night.

Swarthmore, now winners of its last seven contests, improved to 11-2 on the season and 4-2 in Centennial action. Gettysburg dipped to 3-10 (2-4 Centennial).

Sophomore point guard Abass Sallah started for the second game in a row and scored a team-high 16 points on 7-of-11 shooting (63.3 percent).

Three other Garnet players reached double digits. Conor Harkins dropped in 15 points and had a game-high four steals. Nate Shafer registered a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds. Cam Wiley flirted with a double-double by posting 11 points and eight assists in 20 minutes off the bench. He also gathered six rebounds on the night. Wiley, moved into 10th all-time in career points at Swarthmore, and now has 1,244 for his career.

Swarthmore started off with a cold shooting performance, hitting just a third of its attempts in the first half (11-for-33). The Garnet, though they never trailed in the contest, only led by two points with a minute left in the first half. Back-to-back layups by the Garnet brought them into the locker room up 33-27.

Out of the locker room, Swarthmore continued its 4-0 run with an additional 9-0 run to start the second half. Swarthmore's lead ballooned to 29 points following an 11-0 run midway through the second half. Another 8-0 spurt towards the end of the half gave Swarthmore it's largest lead of the game at 75-43 with 3:16 remaining.

The Garnet return home for a game on Thursday at 8 p.m. against Dickinson College.
