CHESTER, Pa. - The Swarthmore College women's track & field team put together a strong showing on the opening night of the Danny Curran Invitational on Friday night.
Nora Blodgett and
Adria Retter carried their indoor dominance into the outdoor slate with top-three finishes in their respective events. Blodgett placed first overall in the 5K Run, while Retter finished second overall in the shot put.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Blodgett ran the entire 5K race in a two-woman pack with a Messiah University runner. The senior ran the majority of the race in the second position before making a late pass with half a track length remaining in the race. Blodgett crossed the finish line at 18:04.25 to best the Messiah runner by four-seconds.
- Madeline Farber also earned a top-10 finish in the highly-competitive 5K run. The junior placed ninth overall in the event with a personal record of 19:16.83. Farber destroyed her previous outdoor best by over 40-seconds.
Celia Parts also represented the Garnet in the 5K run as she won her heat and placed 24th overall with a time of 20:53.81. The senior ran in the first position for the entire race.

Adria Retter placed second overall in the shot put with a top mark of 13.69m to set a new outdoor personal best.
Jordyn Bernard finished 11th in the event with a top mark of 9.97m.

Emma Chiao earned a seventh place effort in the triple jump with a top distance of 10.40m. The jump marked a new outdoor personal record for the senior.
