Game Notes
It was an up and down spring break trip for the Diplomats, who finished 3-6 in Florida. When the Diplomats were hot, they were scorching - scoring 15 and 19 runs in two wins.
Bobby Falese has absolutely crushed the first few weeks of the season, making huge strides from last season.
2021 (11 games): .220/.319/.341, three doubles, one triple, five runs, two RBI
2022 (14 games): .408/.483/.714, seven doubles, one triple, ten runs, 21 RBI
Falese had a monster series against Clarkson, going 5-7 with four doubles and 8 RBI
AJ Desautels has found a niche in the lineup for the Diplomats, hitting safely in every game with a plate appearance in Florida. The first-year 2B finished the trip hitting .481 with 13 hits in 27 trips to the plate. He's had multi-hit games in four of his last five appearances.
Kyle Roche rounded back into form with a six inning, nine strikeout performance against TCNJ, scattering just two hits in the half-dozen frames.
The 15-11 victory against Clarkson marked the first time since the 2018 season that the Diplomats have won a shootout, allowing ten or more runs in a contest. It's just the fourth time under Ryan Horning that F&M won a double-digit game (4-49).
F&M looks to get back on the winning track with some winnable contests against a 7-9 Lancaster Bible team, a pair against a 1-13 Albright squad, and a 6-10 Elizabethtown. The toughest contest will be on Sunday at Lebanon Valley, who totes a 9-5 record.
The Diplomats have not had a losing record in March since Horning's first year at the helm in 2014 (7-8). The team has finished .500 (7-7) before in 2018.
