READING, Pa. - The Haverford College Field Hockey team (2-0) posted its second victory in as many days on Friday evening at Alvernia, turning away the hosts (0-1) by a 2-1 final. Haverford held an 18-10 advantage in shots and a slight 9-8 edge in corners on the evening. Olivia Ahart and Dalia Bercow tallied in the first half for Haverford, as the Fords withstood a late push from the Golven Wolves in the second.

The Fords got on the board in just the third minute of action, converting on an early corner opportunity. Bercow inserted the attempt and Anna Kirn's initial shot was off target before Ahart found the back of the cage to open the scoring.

In the second quarter, it was Bercow who found the goal off a corner play in the 20th minute, as she inserted the ball into play and then was in the right place for Delaney Snowden's feed in the circle. Haverford's stout defense was on display yet again, limiting the Alvernia attempts in the offensive third as the Golden Wolves had three shot attempts blocked in the final moments before halftime.

Brooke Spezialetti was awarded a penalty stroke in the 38th minute, burying the attempt to give Alvernia some momentum with the Haverford lead down to just one goal, but the Fords successfully defended a corner opportunity in the 41st minute.

For the Golden Wolves, Lexi Boettcher was called into action for a pair of saves off Snowden shot attempts as Haverford looked for its third goal to begin the fourth quarter, rattling off five shots in the opening five minutes of the period. Alvernia was desperate for the equalizer, earning three corners down the stretch, but the Fords were able to escape with a fourth consecutive win over Alvernia.

Snowden finished the contest with a game-high six shots, rifling three on frame. Ravenel Davis also contributed three shots while Anna Bradley added three of her own, including two on goal. Hannah Roth made three saves in her 60 minutes between the pipes.

The Fords will return to action on Labor Day Monday, closing out the packed week of action on campus with a 4:30 p.m. start against Immaculata. Field Hockey is undefeated in its last 15 matchups with the Mighty Macs, a stretch dating back to the 1986 season.
