SWARTHMORE, Pa.—No. 25 Swarthmore College Women's Tennis returned to the Centennial Conference Championship after a 5-1 win over the Haverford College Fords on Saturday.

The Centennial Semifinal match was originally scheduled to be played outside, but as rain began to fall, the match was moved indoors. Swarthmore swept through doubles play. Swarthmore dropped just the top singles match and then won second and third singles.

Swarthmore's Christina Wang and Elise Talley put the top doubles flight to rest 8-4, and Emma Kassan and Vivien Fernandez-Ravelo claimed second doubles by the same score. Third doubles was a little more closely contested, but freshmen Sonia Varma and Sophie Brown worked for an 8-6 win.

Varma cruised in second singles and won 6-0, 6-3 to put Swarthmore a point away from clinching the match. Kassan battled in top singles but fell 7-5, 6-2. Swarthmore secured the semifinals victory with an intense match at third singles. Fernandez-Ravelo wrangled a 7-5 win in the first set. She then fell behind three games to none in the second set. Down, but not out, she clawed her way back and the match needed a tiebreaker game to decide the second set. Serving for match point, Fernandez-Ravelo put her opponent deep in the right corner and then returned fire with a backhand down the line for the winner.

Swarthmore competes against Johns Hopkins University at 11 a.m. in Baltimore for the conference title.
