CARLISLE, Pa. - The Haverford College field hockey team (10-2, 3-2 CC) outlasted host Dickinson (4-7, 3-2 CC) in a penalty shootout, escaping with the 2-1 victory. Ravenel Davis found Anna Kirn in front of the cage in the 18th minute to tie the score after Dickinson opened the scoring. Delaney Snowden was the lone player to tally for either team in the penalty round, with her strike sending the Fords to a 10th win for the first time since 2017. Haverford's 10-2 record through 12 contests is the best 12-game start in program history.

After neither side tallied in the first quarter, Dickinson grabbed the opening goal in the early goings of the second as Amanda Fruman found Hannah Spiri for a goal off a penalty corner in the 17th minute of action. On their very next possession, the Fords charged into the circle, with Davis sprinting down the sideline and delivering a perfectly-placed one-timer across the cage to Anna Kirn. Kirn found the back of the cage with her fifth tally of the season as Davis was credited with her third assist of the season.

The two sides were deadlocked for the remainder of regulation and overtime, with Dickinson holding most of the offensive rhythm in the second half. The Red Devils earned 24 penalty corners and fired 16 shots on the contest, but a stout Haverford backline denied the hosts on every opportunity. Hannah Roth made three saves while the penalty corner defensive unit made a bevy of defensive saves to keep Dickinson at bay.

With the contest still deadlocked after the 7-on-7 overtime periods, the game entered a shootout. Snowden delivered the only goal of the stretch, with a crafty back-handed shot towards the far post that out-witted Dickinson goalkeeper Saige Stevens.

Roth was a standout in the penalty strokes, lunging and stretching to deny the Red Devil shooters and delivering a rare blanking of the Dickinson shooters in the strokes. The Fords earned their first win at Dickinson since the 2017 campaign.

The Fords now return to action on Wednesday with a trip to Allentown to match up with Muhlenberg. The contest is slated to begin at 7:30 p.m.
