Johns Hopkins Shuts Out Muhlenberg, 9-0

• The Short Story: The 23rd-ranked Johns Hopkins women's tennis team, led by all freshmen, picked up another conference shutout at Muhlenberg Saturday afternoon.
 
How it Happened
• Hopkins lost just five games in doubles en route to a quick 3-0 lead in the match. Freshmen Evelyn Chang and Jessica Liang won by an 8-2 score over Maria Stere and Meghan Olsen at first. Freshmen Amanda Ruci and Anya Gunewardena won by the same score at second over Shelby Knafo and Carly Lodise. Freshmen Sophie Saland and Lillian Oliver dropped only one game as they defeated Rose Glantz and Jessica Sommer.
• The Blue Jays followed with a sweep of the singles' matches, all in straight sets and with just five lost games. Chang secured the win for Hopkins with a 6-0, 6-0 win at first over Stere. Liang matched her at second with her win over Olsen.
• Ruci beat Knafo 6-2, 6-0 at third while Gunewardena did the same at fourth in her match versus Lodise. Saland was a 6-1, 6-0 winner at fifth over Glantz and Oliver didn't drop a game in her win over Ji-In Friess at sixth.  
 
What it Means
• Hopkins moves to 19-7 all-time against Muhlenberg and pushes its win streak to 13 in the series.
 
Up Next
• Hopkins is back in action on Tuesday, April 9 as the Blue Jays host the Franklin & Marshall Diplomats. The Centennial Conference match is slated for a 4:00 pm start.
