Men’s Swimming Bests Washington College in Home Opener

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - The Swarthmore College men's swim team defeated Washington College, 193-67, in the team's Garnet Weekend home opener on Saturday morning.

The Garnet won 11 of 13 individual events and swept both relay events. Finn Conaway and Cami Wilson led the way for Swarthmore with a pair of individual wins.



HOW IT HAPPENED
-Swarthmore opened the morning with a victory in the 400 medley relay. The team of Joseph Lukner, Ben Wesley, Jonathan Sue and AJ Das placed first overall with a time of 3:32.21. Das narrowly out swam the Shoremen's top relay to secure the first place finish on the final stretch. 

-Finn Conaway won the 1000 freestyle with a time of 10:01.78, while Ben Freeman took second at 10:11.91 and Grant Himes was third at 10:35.46. Conaway also took the 400 individual medley later in the afternoon with a 4:19.21 effort, while Ham Williams-Tracy (4:22.11) and Jacob Sherman (4:23.17) finished top-three.

-Williams-Tracy narrowly secured the top finish in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:48.38.. Luckner then took first in the 100 backstroke with a 54.08 effort.

-Andrew Karpenko won the 100 breaststroke with a 1:00.06 mark, while Ben Wesley followed with a second place effort at 1:00.54. Karpenko also placed second in the 200 breaststroke with a 2:14.02 effort. 

-Dylan Ling was victorious in the 200 butterfly at 1:56.35. The first-year was followed by Sam Peterson and Hayden Brown with times of 2:02.67 and 2:03.13, respectively.

-Cami Wilson outswam all opponents in the 50 freestyle as he finished at 21.29. Das went on to win the 100 freestyle with a 47.21 effort. The Garnet dominated the event as they held the top five finishes. Wilson went on to win the 100 butterfly in 50.34, while Ling followed in second at 53.11. 

-Freeman won the 500 freestyle in 4:54.52, while Peterson placed second with a 5:02.55 mark. 

-Swarthmore ended the day with a victory in the 200 freestyle relay. The team of Benton Greenberg, Ling, Suh and Wilson touched the wall at 1:26.27.
