Haverford Results Diplomat Open Results
HAVERFORD, Pa. – Swarthmore College Women's Track and Field began the 2019-20 campaign with a strong showing at the Haverford Holiday Meet and finished first of five schools with 121 points on Saturday.
Clay Conley led the Garnet field events with a victory in the shot put. The senior finished with a best throw of 13.69 meters (44-feet 11 inches).
Adria Retter netted a second place finish with a throw of 10.97 meters (36 feet 0 inches). In the field of 11 competitors,
Rachel Vresilovic and
Naomi Bronkema finished in fifth and sixth place respectively. Vresilovic recorded a throw of 10.25 meters (33-feet 7.5 inches), while Bronkema notched a throw of 9.78 meters (32-feet 1-inch).
Vresilovic added a first place finish in the high jump with a best mark of 1.30 meters (4-feet 3.25 inches).
Emma Chiao earned a second place finish in the long jump with a mark of 4.86 meters (15-feet 11.5 inches). The sophomore added a third place finish in the triple jump with a distance of 10.77 meters (35-feet 4-inches).
On the track,
Krystle Boadi finished the 200 meter run in 27.65 seconds. Earlier in the meet, the freshman finished fourth in the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.28 seconds.
Boadi anchored a third place finish in the 4x200 meter relay. The team of Boadi,
Scout Hayashi,
Mirayda Martinez and
Laila Kirton crossed the finish line with a time of 1:54.46.
Kirton finished in second place of the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 11.19.
Freshman
Quinn Basewitz led the pack of Garnet runners with a second place finish in the 800-meter race with a time of 2:29.86.
Sierra Sweeney crossed with a time of 2:30.14, while
Clare D'Amato finished in 2:31.50.
At the Coach I Open,
Rose Teszler crossed the finish line with a time of 5:28.74 in the mile. The sophomore finished in third place out of 14 competitors.
Phoebe Whiteside crossed the 3,000 meter race in 11th place with a time of 10:47.22, while Nora Blodget finished in 10:50.44 for a 12th place finish. The 3,000 meter event comprised of 37 competitors.
The Swarthmore women will get back in action in 2020 at the NYC Gotham Cup in Staten Island, N.Y. on Friday, January 17
th.
