Myrtle Beach, S.C. – The Fitchburg State softball team continued their spring trip to Myrtle Beach this afternoon, dropping a 5-3 decision to the Eagles of St. Elizabeth in the first game of the day before falling 11-0 to Gettysburg in the nightcap.

Score: Fitchburg State 0, Gettysburg 11 (Game Two)

How It Happened

In game one, Saint Elizabeth took an early 3-0 advantage in the top of the third before Fitchburg State cut the deficit to 4-2, scoring single runs in the fifth and sixth frames on a fielding miscue and an RBI single off the bat of senior Hayley O'Brien (Lynnfield, Mass.).

The Eagles tacked on an insurance run in the top half of the seventh to give them a 5-2 edge, but the Falcons battled back as junior Molly Grass (Rockland, Mass.) singled to right field to plate freshman Julia Gauvin (Granby, Mass.), but that's as close as the Green and Gold would get as Saint Elizabeth got out of the jam, resulting in the 5-3 final.

In game two, Gettysburg jumped out to a 2-0 edge in the top of the first frame. Fitchburg State threated in their half of the first when freshman Isabella Sousa () singled up the middle and moved to second after senior Audrey Johnson (Fitchburg, Mass.) reached on a throwing miscue, but the Bullets worked out of the inning unscathed..

Gettysburg upped its lead to 11-0 in the top of the third before the Falcons would threaten again in the third and fifth as with sophomore Dana Cisowski (Torrington, Conn.) and freshman Mackenzie Leveille (Brooklyn, Conn.) reaching on base hits before Gettysburg hurler Paige Forry was able to work around both hits, resulting in the 11-0 final.
