Hounds Play to Scoreless Draw at Rival Muhlenberg

ALLENTOWN, Pa. --- The Moravian University women's soccer squad held a large advantage in shots but was unable to get a ball in the net as the Greyhounds played to a 0-0, double-overtime draw at rival Muhlenberg College Thursday evening.

How It Happened

  • Moravian would get the first shot on goal in the ninth minute as freshman midfielder Anika Buzzy had her shot saved. The Greyhounds added four more shots on the keeper in the first half including a pair by freshman midfielder Chelsea Meltzer
  • The Hounds recorded four more shots on goal in the second half including one from senior forward Charlotte Smith in the 88th minute that had to be cleared from the line by the Mules defense
  • The only shot in the first overtime from Moravian's senior midfielder Morgan Covart was blocked
  • Each squad would get a shot on goal in the second overtime with Greyhounds' sophomore goalie Paige Harrison making a save with just over a minute remaining to preserve the shutout 

Inside the Numbers

  • Moravian finished with a 23-4 advantage in shots including 10-2 on goal
  • Sophomore keeper Payce Korpics made one save while playing the first 45 minutes of the match while Harrison added one save in the final 65 minutes of action
  • The Greyhounds have played back-to-back double overtime draws to start the season for the first time since 2003. The 2003 squad played two scoreless matches while the 2021 team tied the opener at 1-1
