Matt Riebesell and
Chris Grillo put their names in the record book, but the Muhlenberg baseball team fell at Scranton, 7-5.
Riebesell
(pictured above) doubled to lead off the fifth to tie the school record of 16 doubles in a season, set in 2010. It was also his 38th career two-bagger, tying him with Grillo for second on the all-time list, two shy of the record. Riebesell's three hits gave him 156 for his career, moving him into 10th place on the program's all-time list.
Grillo's record came on the defensive end. With two assists, he upped his career total to 404, topping the previous mark of 403.
Seniors
Kenny Freid and
Justin Revel hit RBI singles in the second to give the Mules (18-16) a 3-0 lead. After the Royals (12-16) scored four times in the third to capture the lead, sophomore
Robert Cappadona tied the game with an RBI single in the fourth.
Riebesell scored the go-ahead run on a sacrifice fly by senior
Jon Capra following his record-tying double, but Muhlenberg was shut out for the rest of the game. Scranton plated single runs in the fifth, sixth and eighth.
