Five Place at Messiah Open

Five Muhlenberg wrestlers placed at the Messiah Open.

With half of the team at McDaniel for the final Centennial Conference duals of the season, the Mules sent 10 of their younger team members - all freshmen and sophomores - to compete in a meet that featured Division I competitors.

Freshman Andrew Franklin led the Muhlenberg contingent by placing third at heavyweight. His lone loss came in overtime against a Division I opponent from Binghamton, but he rebounded to win a pair of decisions in the consolation bracket, defeating a Messiah wrestler in the third-place match.

Freshman Brian McCaw placed fifth at 125. He went 3-2, defeating Division I wrestlers from Liberty and Binghamton. McCaw (pictured above) pulled out a 3-2 decision against a York opponent in the fifth-place match.

Other placewinners for the Mules were freshmen Sean Quaye (sixth at heavyweight) and Paul Parise (seventh at 197) and sophomore Deon Savage (eighth at 184). Sophomore Riley McHale won a pair of bouts on a pin and technical fall at 157.
