COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Junior Alexa Mellis scored her 100th career goal as a Fighting Scot as The College of Wooster women's lacrosse team defeated Ursinus 12-8 on Tuesday.

Mellis scored just three minutes into the game to accomplish the feat to put Wooster ahead 2-0. Hannah Shaw scored Wooster's first goal in what would be a season-high four goals for the first-year.

Shaw scored three goals as Wooster pulled away to an 8-3 lead in the first half. Jenny Grossmann scored twice in the half, while Ashley Boersma and Caitlyn O'Connor recorded goals as well.

Ursinus (0-5) made a comeback attempt in the second half, cutting Wooster's lead to one with 9:20 remaining after a 5-1 run to start the half. However, Wooster stopped the bleeding just in time, scoring the game's three final goals.

In those final three goals, Shaw and Jill Murray benefited in a player-up opportunity to score, while Mellis assisted Sydney Schuster for a score.

Boersma and Grossmann each finished with two goals. Boersma and Mellis each had two assists.

Wooster collected 23 ground balls. Boersma led the way with four as Grossmann, Emma Hambright and Lauryn Hill all had three.

Shaw had a game-high nine draw controls, collecting the majority of Wooster's 11 draw controls. Miura Wiley had the other two.

Both teams were 3-of-6 in free position shots. Wooster was 18-of-24 in clear attempts.

Katie Shideler made 12 saves to collect the win. She, and the team, moves to 3-1 on the season.
