Box Score SWARTHMORE, Pa.--No. 19 Swarthmore College Men's Tennis traveled to defeat Franklin & Marshall College 8-1 in a match of Centennial Conference opponents on Saturday.
The Garnet (10-10 overall, 7-0 conference) have two conference matches remaining and are tied in first place with Johns Hopkins. They play the Blue Jays in the last match of the regular season on April 28.
Against the Diplomats, freshman
Thibault Vernier won 6-4, 6-2 in No. 1 singles. Junior
Simon Vernier was victorious by a 6-2, 6-4 score in the second position. Senior
Josh Powell played at No. 3 singles and won 3-6, 6-1, 11-9. Freshman
Jiung Jung was a winner by a 6-1, 6-0 score in the fifth spot. And junior
Evan Han won 8-3 at No. 6.
In doubles, seniors
Mark Fallati and
Josh Powell won 8-3 in the first position. T. Vernier and freshman
John Lathrop won 9-7 in the No. 2 slot. And Jung teamed up with senior
Blake Oetting to win 8-3.
Swarthmore plays its final non-conference match of the season against No. 12 University of Mary Washington on Sunday at 11 a.m.
