YORK, PA – The Johns Hopkins wrestling team sits in sixth place with 25.5 points in the 15-team New Standard Corporation Invitational at York College after the first day of competition. Two Blue Jays remain alive in the championship bracket of their respective weight classes entering Saturday's quarterfinals, which will begin at 9:30 am. In addition, six Johns Hopkins wrestlers will continue on in the consolation bracket when action continues on Saturday morning.

The Quarterfinalists
Junior
Dominick Reyes (165), who placed third in this tournament last season, needed just one win to move into Saturday's quarterfinals. After an opening-round bye, Reyes made quick work of Delaware Valley's Alec Meyers as he scored a 17-2 technical fall victory. It was Reyes' third win by tech fall this season and the 11
th of his career. He'll take on John Garda of TCNJ in the quarterfinals.

Nathan Wertheimer (184) drew an opening round match against Elizabethtown's Jakob Latham and needed just 83 seconds to score a pin and move into the round of 16. There, he edged Ryan Doyle of York, 10-6, to secure his spot in the quarterfinals, where he'll meet Anthony Malfitano of Roger Williams.

Bradlee Lamontagne (157) wrapped a 13-5 major decision of TCNJ's Matt Surich and win by forfeit around a tough 6-2 loss to Alfred Corradetti of Ursinus in his three matches on Friday. Â Â He'll meet Brockport's Reese Lockwood in his first match on Saturday.

Brent Lorin (125) scored a pair of bonus-point wins and went 2-1 on Friday. He opened by pinning York's Brandon Murray (5:53) before falling to Sam Braswell of Averett in the round of 16. He bounced back with a 14-3 major decision of Ben Dubois of Roger Williams and is scheduled to take on TCNJ's Carmen Giumarello In the consolation quarterfinals.

Grant Walnoha (174) picked up his team-leading fifth pin of the season with a first-period fall of Kyle Strazdus of York in his opening bout. He was bounced to the consolation bracket with 12-0 loss to William Sims of the Merchant Marine Academy, but stayed alive with a 5-1 win over Joey Bunce of York.

Jared Osborne (149) pulled a stunning pin of Anthony Gagliano of TCNJ from a defensive position in his opening match before dropping a tight 5-3 decision to Lucas Pincus of Cortland St. to slip to the consolation bracket. There, he pinned teammate
Justin Valdoria in 6:16 to stay alive heading into Saturday.

Joe Paul bounced back from a 5-2 opening round loss to James Cruz of the Merchant Marine Academy with a 6-3 decision of Joe McCarthy of TCNJ. He'll meet David McElravy of Apprentice in the consolation quarterfinals on Saturday morning.

Hank Behaeghel (285) dropped his only match of the opening day as he fell to Liridon Leka of Johnson & Wales, 4-2. He'll meet Gavin Range of Ursinus in his first match on Saturday.
