SALEM, Va. – Washington and Lee wrestling sent a team of reserves to compete in the Star City Tournament on Sunday, placing four individuals atop the podium en route to a sixth-place team finish.
 
Host Roanoke College tallied 373.0 points to take home the team title.  Mount Olive was second with 222.0 points and Newport News Apprentice was third with 99.5 points.  Ozarks was fourth (73.0), followed by Liberty (66.5) and W&L (61.0).
 
Individually, the Generals were led by sophomore John Ryan Sedovy (Lexington, Va. / Rockbridge County), who took first-place in the 197-pound weight class.  He began the tournament with an 11-0 major decision over William Headley of Liberty and then logged a 5-2 victory over Cruz Partain of the University of the Ozarks in the semifinals.  In the championship match, Sedovy took a 4-3 decision over Caleb Hartung of the Apprentice School.
 
Sophomore Jack Bosco (Irvington, N.Y. / Hackley School) finished fifth in the 125-pound bracket, while first-year Declan Treacy (Issaquah, Wash. / Issaquah) registered a fifth-place finish at 174 pounds.  Sophomore Harrison Kelly (Berkeley Heights, N.J. / Governor Livingston) added a seventh-place showing at 165 pounds.
 
Bosco went 3-1 overall and registered a 9-5 win over Ferrum's Trent Proctor in the fifth-place match.  Treacy went 1-2 and picked up a forfeit in the fifth-place match.  Kelly was 3-2 overall and downed Joaquin Bautista from Ozarks in the seventh-place match, pinning him in 33 seconds.
 
Washington and Lee will return to action on December 3-4, when it competes in the New Standard Invitational hosted by York College of Pennsylvania.
