• The Short Story: Junior Pablo Martinez scored the game's only goal in the 45^th minute to lift the 15^th-ranked Johns Hopkins men's soccer team to a 1-0 win at third-ranked Franklin & Marshall Saturday afternoon.  
 
How it Happened
• Hopkins had a flurry of shots midway through the first half, with a pair by sophomore Brian Lenzer going just high and the third, a shot by junior Alejandro Maclean, was stopped by Dips' goalie Christopher Amoruso.   
• Franklin & Marshall nearly took a 1-0 lead in the 40^th minute on a low shot by Kane Feudtner, but junior Xander LeFevre was there for the save.
• Martinez put the Blue Jays on the board with just 35 seconds remaining in the first half. Freshman Sam Martin played a short cross to Martinez, who lofted a shot into the upper-right corner from 20 yards out. That turned out be the difference as Hopkins would hold off a late F&M push.
 
What it Means
• Hopkins improves to 41-25-8 all-time against Franklin & Marshall as the Blue Jays have won the last two regular season meetings.
• The third-ranked Diplomats are the highest ranked opponent the Blue Jays have ever beaten. It is also their second win over a top-10 team this season. Prior to today, the highest ranked team had beat was fourth-ranked Christopher Newport on November 13, 2010. That game was also on the road.
 
Inside the Box Score
• LeFevre finished with six saves to earn his fifth shutout of the season and 11^th of his career. Amoruso made a pair of saves in the loss.
• Franklin & Marshall had a 15-10 advantage in shots and an 8-4 edge in corners. This was the first time the Diplomats had been shutout since a 1-0 loss at Stockton on September 4, 2019.
