Sean Thompson (Plainsboro, N.J./West Windsor-Plainsboro South) and
Marc Larson (Warren, N.J./Watchung Hills) each scored major decisions in a 27-17 setback for the Gettysburg College wrestling team at York (Pa.) College Thursday night.

Match Highlights
- York took the lead with a technical fall at 125, but freshman Jake Stein (Basking Ridge, N.J./Ridge) put Gettysburg on the board with a 9-7 decision over Logan Fox at 133. Stein took the lead with a pair of takedowns in the first period, but Fox came back to tie the match in the second frame. Two more takedowns by the Gettysburg first-year in the final period sealed the win.
- After a slow start against Verlensky Joachim, Thompson ran away with a shutout major decision at 141 pounds. Thompson posted the lone points of the opening period with a takedown and tacked on four more points in the second. The junior controlled the third period, scoring a takedown and picking up two more points via stalling calls on Joachim before capping the 12-0 win with the riding time advantage point.
- Mougalian put Gettysburg up 13-5 in the team scoring with a quick pin at 149. He tossed Timmy Sparks to the mat in the opening 20 seconds and worked his way to a fall in just 57 seconds, marking his fastest pin of the season.
- Larson racked up six takedowns in a 10-point win against Kyle Strazdus at 174 pounds. Half of his takedowns came in the first period and he added a takedown and near-fall in the second. Larson's final takedown came with 21 seconds left.
By the Numbers
- Gettysburg moved to 8-10 in dual competition this season. York improved to 9-7.
- Thompson improved to 25-13 with his sixth major decision of the season. With 76 career wins, the junior is now one win shy of Zach Thomson and Wayne Wetterau '89 for 17th on the program's all-time list.
- Larson continued to climb toward his first 20-win season by improving his record to 19-10. He has won seven of his last eight bouts.
- Mougalian scored his fifth pin of the season and improved to 14-15. Four of his five pins have come in the opening period.
- Stein has won three of his last four bouts and improved his record to 7-14.
The Series
York improved to 38-5 against Gettysburg. The Bullets were bidding for their first win over the Spartans since 1991-92.
