• The Short Story: With the regular season title and chance to host the conference tournament on the line, the Johns Hopkins and Franklin & Marshall volleyball teams engaged in an epic five-set match with the Diplomats eventually coming out on top to claim the top seed in next weekend's tournament.
How it Happened
SET 1
• The Diplomats got out to an early 7-2 lead but the Blue Jays responded, scoring seven of the next 10 points to pull to within one at 10-9.
• A kill from
Michelle Abt sparked a 4-0 Blue Jay run which gave them a 13-11 lead, but F&M responded with a 3-0 run to regain the lead at 14-13.
• A Diplomat service error tied the match; however, the home team scored the next three points to go up 17-14 as Franklin & Marshall went on to win the set 25-20.
SET 2
• A 4-0 run allowed Hopkins to double up the Diplomats as the Blue Jays pulled out to a 12-6 lead in the second set.
• F&M got to within four on a JHU attacking error but two straight points from Johns Hopkins made the score 16-10.
• Hopkins held control of the set and didn't allow F&M to get much closer as the Blue Jays won the set 25-18.
SET 3
• The Diplomats raced out to a 6-1 lead in the set but an 8-4 run by the Blue Jays made it a one-point set at 10-9.
• A 6-1 run later in the frame put Franklin & Marshall up 19-13 but five-straight Blue Jay points made it a one-point set.

Louisa Kishton tied the match at 20 with a kill but F&M scored four of the next five points to get to set point. A service error and back-to-back kills from Abt tied up the set at 24, but F&M scored the next two points to win the set 26-24.
SET 4
• Hopkins took a 10-4 lead on a Kishton kill, but the Diplomats cut the deficit to three with a 3-0 run.
• JHU scored four of the next five points to take a 14-8 lead, but an 8-0 Franklin & Marshall run put the Diplomats in the lead, 17-16.
• The teams went back and forth before a 5-0 JHU run gave the Blue Jays a 24-20 lead. The Diplomats responded with a 4-0 run of their own to tie the match at 24 but a kill from Kishton and a Diplomat attacking error gave the Blue Jays the 26-24 victory and forced a decisive fifth set.
SET 5
• The Diplomats took a 5-3 lead in the fifth set but the Blue Jays got to within one on a service error by F&M which made the score 7-6.
• Franklin & Marshall scored three straight points to take a 13-8 lead but the Blue Jays scored four-straight to get to within one as an
Esther Hong ace made the score 13-12.
• The Blue Jays were unable to get any closer as F&M scored two of the next three points to win the set 15-13 and claim the top spot in the conference.
What it Means
• Hopkins is the number two seed in the conference tournament

• This is the first time since 2015 that the Blue Jays have lost two CC matches.
• Johns Hopkins is now 20-26 against the Diplomats.
Inside the Box Score
• Bliss recorded a match-high 23 kills as Hopkins had four players recorded double-digit kills. Abt and
Lauren Anthony both finished with 11 while Kishton had 15. Kishton also added 21 digs for the double-double.
• Hong had 13 digs in the match while
Nicole Hada added 12 and
Sarah Khan finished with 10. Hada also had a match-high 56 assists.
• The Blue Jays hit .260 as a team while the Diplomats hit .241.
