MYRTLE BEACH, Fl. - Kicking off the outdoor season, the Swarthmore men's track & field team put up stellar results at the Myrtle Beach Collegiate Challenge on Saturday, Mar. 11.
The Garnet saw seven top ten finishes, with sophomore
Robert Mirabello, sophomore
Colin DeLaney, sophomore
Jay van Adrichem Boogaert, first year
Will Sheehy, senior
Xavier Serrano, first year
Gabriel Hines and senior
Paul Seth all doing Swarthmore proud down in Florida.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Mirabello finished ninth in the 800m Open, putting up a time of 2:09.81.
- Competing in the 800m Seeded, DeLaney posted a time of 2:00.16, good enough for eight place. DeLaney barely missed out on a higher placement, finishing just 0.06 seconds behind the seventh place runner.
- Running in the 3000m, van Adrichem Boogaert slotted in at seventh place with his time of 9:20.40.
- Sheehy tore up the competition in the 5000m, crossing the finish line over four seconds faster than the runner up with his time of 15:08.11.
- Throwing in the javelin, Serrano notched a mark of 46.25m, good enough for seventh place in the event.
- The Garnet had two top finishers in the pole vault, with Seth placing sixth with a mark of 3.81m, and Hines finishing second with his mark of 4.11m.

Coming back north, the garnet will compete in Widener University's Danny Curran Invitational on Friday, Mar. 31.
