Men’s Soccer Tops McDaniel for Fourth-Straight Win

GETTYSBURG, Pa. –The Gettysburg College men's soccer team won its fourth straight match as they topped Centennial Conference foe McDaniel College 3-1 on Wednesday night at Clark Field.

With the win, the Bullets are now 5-2-1 overall and a perfect 3-0 in conference play.

Freshman Oladayo Thomas (Larchmont, N.Y./The Masters) continues to be dominant on the offensive end as he netted his fifth goal of the season nine minutes into the opening half. Thomas tallied the Bullets first goal off a breakaway, shooting into the lower left corner of the box. Thomas has now registered a goal in the last three matches.

Six minutes later, McDaniel fouled right outside the middle of the box, allowing Gettysburg to have a free kick. Junior Precious Ozoh (Abuja, Nigeria/Holderness School (N.H.)) kicked the ball as it soared into the upper left corner to score the Bullets second goal of the half.

The Bullets controlled the match from the start as they kept play down in McDaniel's side of the field and finished the half outshooting the Green Terror 9-2 and held the 4-0 advantage in corner kicks.

At the 49th minute in the second half, McDaniel scored its lone goal of the night off a penalty kick.

Gettysburg collected its final score of the night six minutes later from freshman Jack Carroll (Leonia, N.J./Bergen Catholic) as he headed the ball perfectly into the upper left corner of the box for his first career goal. Junior Bobby Weikert (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg) was credited with the assist.

The Gettysburg defense played excellent again tonight as they only allowed McDaniel just five shots. The Bullets finished the match outshooting the Green Terror 17-5, while holding the 5-1 control in corner kicks.

Freshman goalkeeper Dillon Konzelmann (New Providence, N.J./New Providence) started in his third game of the season and grabbed three saves.

The Bullets return to the pitch on Saturday as they play at Centennial Conference opponent Haverford College at 2 p.m.
