SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Juniors Oliver Yancey (Wallingford, Pa./Strath Haven) and Duncan Proxmire (McLean, Va./Langley) each won two events, but 25th-ranked Gettysburg College (7-1, 3-1 CC) suffered its first loss of the season in dual competition 108-97 at defending Centennial Conference champion Swarthmore College (4-4, 4-1 CC) Saturday afternoon.

Meet Highlights

• Swarthmore opened the meet by pulling out a razor-thin victory in the 400 medley relay. Jeremy Rockaway keyed the Garnet on the second leg and junior Aedan Collins (Westfield, N.J./Westfield) ran out of real estate as he tried to catch Ben Freeman in the final 100 yards. The hosts posted a time of 3:30.61, while Gettysburg clocked 3:30.63.
• Proxmire posted Gettysburg's first win with another strong performance in the 1,000 free. He led from start-to-finish on the way to a time of 9:41.82 – 22 seconds faster than runner-up Alex Hatzikos. For an encore, the Gettysburg junior out-ran Alec Manzer in the 500 free with a time of 4:42.53. Proxmire has pulled off the 500/1,000 sweep four times this season.
• Yancey followed Proxmire soon after with his first win coming in the 50 free. The Gettysburg swimmer touched the wall in 21.23, edging Alec Lawless by 0.19 seconds. Gettysburg featured four of the top five finishers in the race. Yancey's second win came in the 100 breast where he finished just 0.21 off a personal best with a time of 58.11. The junior just missed a hat trick, touching the wall second in the 100 free with a mark of 47.29.
• Cox turned in win No. 9 on the season by earning top honors in the 100 back. He out-dueled Horace Shew by 0.86 seconds with a time of 52.28.
• Less than half a second separated the top three finishers in the 200 free. Freeman once again touched the wall ahead of Collins despite a late charge by the Gettysburg junior. The Swarthmore swimmer finished in 1:44.01 with Collins just two-hundredths of a second behind. Junior Danny Petrillo (Bridgewater, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) placed third in 1:44.42.
• Swarthmore wrapped up the meet by edging out Gettysburg in the 400 free relay. The lead went back-and-forth with the Bullets heading into the final 100 yards with a slight advantage. Menzer came from behind to overtake junior Jack Edelson (Charlotte, N.C./Providence Senior) in the final leg as the Garnet won with a time of 3:07.96. Collins, Petrillo, sophomore Sam Nonemaker (Shippensburg, Pa./Shippensburg), and Edelson finished in 3:08.85.

 
Where the Series Stands Now
Swarthmore recorded its third consecutive win over Gettysburg. Each of the last four decisions between the Bullets and Garnet have been decided by 11 points or less. Gettysburg holds a 51-18 lead in the all-time series.
