Women's Basketball Drops Road Game to Ursinus

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Swarthmore College Women's Basketball dropped a mid-week Centennial Conference road game to Ursinus, 68-57, on Wednesday night.
 
Through one quarter of the play, Swarthmore trailed the Bears 15-9. The Garnet struggled in the first quarter as they shot 25% from the field, including 0-for-2 from three-point distance. In the second frame, the Garnet and Bears combined for 43 points. Swarthmore shot 60% from three-point range, while Ursinus was 45% from the field.
 
The Garnet struggled to get the offense going as they were held to only six points in the third quarter. While Swarthmore was 3-of-14 from the field, Ursinus was eight-of-fifteen. Swarthmore looked to charge back in the final frame as they were 47% from the field.  The Bears were outscored in the fourth frame, 21-12, but it was not enough for the Garnet.
 
Dana Bandurick led the Garnet with 17 points, eight rebounds and one steal. The freshman guard, two points shy of her season-high, has netted double digit points in all but one game this season.
 
Christina Holmgren notched 11 points on four-of-six shooting from the field. The senior added six boards, a block and an assist in the conference contest.
 
Kendall Tribus and Elizabeth Stiles each recorded seven points for the Garnet. Tribus added seven boards, four assist and one steal, while Stiles finished with two rebounds, two steals and one assist.
 
The Garnet received two steals each from Abigail Pirron, Isabelle Ewart and Kim Kockenmeister. Ursinus was led by a double-double from Aliyah Stephens as the guard finished with 25 points and 12 rebounds.
 
Swarthmore falls to 2-4 and 1-2 in Centennial action, while Ursinus improves to 4-3 overall and 3-1 in the league. The Garnet host Immaculata in non-conference play on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
