Moravian Falls at Rival Muhlenberg in Non-Conference Action

ALLENTOWN, Pa. --- The Moravian University women's volleyball squad fell to rival Muhlenberg College, 3-0, in non-conference action in Memorial Hall Wednesday evening. 

How It Happened

  • The opening set saw the Mules score the first ten points of the contest, and Muhlenberg took the first set by a 25-9 score
  • The Greyhounds recorded the first two points of the second set, and the Blue & Grey led by as many as three points at 9-6. The Mules knotted the set at 10-10 before taking a lead. Moravian pulled back within a point at 15-14 when Muhlenberg had another 10-0 run to capture the set 25-14
  • The third set also saw the Hounds score the first two points and lead 5-1 early in the set. The Mules countered and led 9-7 only to see Moravian rally back and take a 22-13 edge. Muhlenberg scored 11 of the next 13 points to push the set beyond 25 points before earning a 28-26 victory to complete the evening 

Inside the Numbers

  • Sophomore outside hitter Jenna Deegan led Moravian with eight kills to go with five digs while junior outside hitter Hannah Hayes and sophomore right side hitter Makenzie Krasley each contributed five kills with Krasley adding five digs
  • Senior setter Natalia Matos recorded 16 assists and four digs while senior libero Gabby Mancini and freshman defensive specialist Tamara Vasquez each had 10 digs with Vasquez connecting on a pair of service aces
  • Junior middle blocker Autumn Marerro contributed four kills while junior defensive specialist Emily Szy and junior middle blocker Grace Silfani both had four digs
