CHESTERTOWN, Md. - The Haverford College volleyball team (11-9, 4-3 CC) picked up a key Centennial Conference win on Wednesday evening in Chestertown, taking down the host Shorewomen (10-11, 2-5 CC) by virtue of a 3-0 sweep (25-22, 25-21, 25-20).

Claire Jordan finished with a game-high 11 kills while Juliet Young added 14 digs. Cameryn DeBlecourt (13 assists) and Kayla Chu (11 assists) helped keep the Fords in rhythm from the setter spot. Annibelle Ernst contributed five total blocks on the evening.

In the first set, Haverford went down 10-6 before climbing back into the frame with a 5-1 run, as Taylor Jones punctuated that stretch with a kill. Washington College was forced to call timeout down 17-14, but responded after the stoppage with a run to tie the score at 17-17. The two teams then traded points with Haverford calling timeout following a run from the Shorewomen to pull ahead at 22-19. From that point, Jordan and Jones were integral, with Jordan finding the floor for a kill before teaming up with Jones on a block to tie the score at 22-all. The run continued with Kendall Otridge notching a kill in a stretch that also included two Washinton errors as Haverford took the first frame 25-22.

In the second, the two teams were again deadlocked for much of the early goings. A block from Izabela Potocnjak and Jones put Haverford ahead at 14-11, and back-to-back errors grew the lead to 16-12. Abby Holland and Annibelle Ernst teamed up for a block as the lead reached 19-13, and the Fords looked poised to close out the set at that point. Washington snuck back into things, down just three at 23-20, but Jones added three of Haverford's final four points to give Haverford a 2-0 lead.

The closeout third saw Haverford rally after Washington went ahead 13-10. Ernst and Caroline Lucas notched kills as the Fords took the lead to 17-15. Washington again had an answer, but the Fords used a 6-1 run to pull to a 23-18 lead, prompting another Shorewomen timeout. Jones sealed the match with her sixth kill of the match at 25-20.

Haverford has now won 24 consecutive matchups with Washington College, and have not lost to the Shorewomen since a non-conference matchup in 1999.

The Fords now return home for Senior Day on Saturday against Gettysburg. The contest is slated to begin at 1 p.m. as the Fords honor the lone member of the senior class, Kendall Otridge, prior to first serve.
