Gettysburg men fall to Carnegie Mellon in non-conference meet

THE SKINNY STORY
The Gettysburg men's swim team fell to Carnegie Mellon, as the Tartans won all but one event in the meet.
 
THE LEADERS
Nick Cox (Purcellville, Va./Ponte Verda) took home the lone first-place honor for the Bullets, winning the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:56.95.

FOR THE FOES
• Aleksander Tarczynski picked up wins in the 200 medley relay, 50 freestyle, and 100 butterfly for the Tartans.

THE REST OF THE STORY
• The Gettysburg 200 Medley A-Team, of Cox, Declan Sheeran (McLean, Va./McLean), Max McAlister (Powell, Ohio, Olentangy), and Cort Hobelmann (Nashville, Tenn./Owensboro Catholic) took second with a time of 1:35.88.
• Cox finished second in the 100 backstroke, at 52.63. Hobelmann was third at 55.12.
Harry Nelson (Gettysburg, Pa./Gettysburg Area) touched second in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:55.56. His time was three tenths slower than the first-place finisher.
 
THE INSIDE STORY
Luke McKenna (Collegeville, Pa./Spring-Ford) finished third in the 1000 freestyle, with a time of 10:02.35.
Conor Vienneau (Newburg, Md./LaPlata) was third in the 200 freestyle, at 1:47.06.
• Sheeran touched third in the 100 breaststroke (1:00.54).
Jack Murphy (Potamac, Md./Winston Churchill) took third in the 200 backstroke, with a time of 2:01.12.
Charlie Cross (Charlottesville, Va./Albemarle) hit the wall third in the 200 IM (1:59.45).
• The 200 Freestyle Relay A-Team of Lorenzo Zullo (Norwalk, Conn./Norwalk), Maximilian Scalise (Stamford, Conn./Darien), Vienneau, and Zac Evans (Egg Harbor Twp., N.J/Egg Harbor Twp.) was third with a time of 1:28.72.

Gettysburg returns to action against Ursinus on Saturday at their Bullet Pride Meet. Meet time is 1 p.m.
