COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - The Haverford College men's soccer team (3-6-4, 1-3-1 CC) earned a 3-1 win over Ursinus (2-7-2, 0-5-0 CC) on Saturday afternoon in Collegeville, using a pair of second-half goals to climb past the host Bears after the score was tied at 1-1 entering halftime. Caleb Miller notched two goals while Andrew Fritz also added a goal in the road triumph, as the Fords snapped a nine-game winless streak.

After an early Haverford flurry of shots in the first 20 minutes, Ursinus went on the offensive with shots from Aidan O'Malley and Marco Grenda saved by Dylan Ioffreda before Colin Deal finally broke through with the first goal of the contest in the 30th minute of play.

Joey Carol put a shot on frame just moments later, but it was a free-kick awarded in the 34th minute that allowed the Fords to grab the equalizer. Miller took the kick and delivered an absolutely beautiful strike off the crossbar and in from way outside the box, tying the score at 1-1. The highlight-reel goal put a charge into the Fords offense going into halftime, and Miller added the go-ahead goal in the 47th minute off a penalty kick following a foul in the box.

With the lead in hand, Haverford added to that tally on its very next shot, with Brian Lorenz notching a perfect cross from the corner to Andrew Fritz, who made a diving attempt at the cage to add the third goal of the afternoon.

Despite the lead, Haverford was still on the offensive chasing a fourth goal, with Liam O'Malley and Cyrus Nasseri each notching solid looks while Ioffreda did well to deal with some challenges from the Ursinus side, stopping attempts from Jack Schmidt in the 64th minute and Luke Luehers in the 88th minute.

Ursinus held a slight 16-13 edge in shots on the afternoon, and Ioffreda was called into action to make eight saves. Miller and Fritz each had three shots, with Marco Grenda pacing Ursinus with four shots while Patrick Tormey added three on frame.

The Fords now return to action on Saturday, October 15, taking on McDaniel at noon. The game will be the first of a doubleheader with the women's team as the race for Centennial Conference postseason positioning begins to heat up.
