Men's Tennis Falls at Johns Hopkins

The Emory University men's tennis team dropped a Sunday afternoon match to Johns Hopkins University, 6-3, in Baltimore, MD.

The doubles tandem of senior Sahil Raina and sophomore Ryan Glanville highlighted the Eagles performance to open the match as they were 8-2 winners at the No. 3 spot. JHU answered however, claiming the next two doubles points by slim 8-5 and 8-7 (3) margins.

Trailing 2-1 heading into singles, Emory was able to pick up a pair of wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions as senior Andrew Esses and sophomore Nolan Shah scored wins over the Blue Jays. At second singles, Esses notched a 6-4, 4-6, 10-4 triumph and at the third line, Shah was a 6-3, 6-2 winner. Hopkins though went on to clinch the match with straight set wins on the remaining four singles courts.

Emory looks to ramp up for next week's UAA Championship with a mid-week match against in-state foe and NAIA power Georgia Gwinnett College. First serve at the Grizzlies is set for 3:00 PM Tuesday afternoon in Lawrenceville.
