The Short Story: Sixth-ranked Salisbury scored three goals in a span of just over three minutes late in the first half to beat host and 15
th-ranked Johns Hopkins Wednesday night in non-conference field hockey action.

How it Happened
• Before the game was a minute old, Hopkins had already taken the lead. Junior
Katie McErlean intercepted a Sea Gull pass deep in their end and passed the ball to sophomore
Val Henderson, who was just outside the circle. She took the pass and fired a shot low shot that freshman
Izzy Thompson redirected to the right post from about eight yards out just 39 seconds in.
• Hopkins was able to control much of the play over the first half, but Salisbury was able to stick three goals to take a 3-1 lead at the half. Meghan Jolikko took a pass from Rachel Domanico and shot low to the right post to tie the game with 6:15 to play.
• McKenzie Mitchell followed with back-to-back goals just 83 seconds apart to give the Sea Gulls the two-goal lead at the break. Salisbury took the lead off a corner, when Mitchell collected a pass from Jillian Hughes, dribbled through the circle and slotted a shot to the right corner with 4:30 to go. Less than 90 seconds later, Mitchell fired a shot to the lower left corner from eight yards out off a pass from Lexi Butler.

What it Means
• Hopkins falls to 5-27 all-time against Salisbury with the Sea Gulls winning their 10
th straight in the series.
• The loss snaps the Blue Jays' four-game season-opening win streak. Hopkins was off to its best start since 2009, when it also started 4-0.

Inside the Box Score
• Hopkins outshot Salisbury, 14-6, and had a 6-3 advantage in corners. This was just the second time this season the Sea Gulls had been outshot or allowed double-digit shots. Entering the game, Salisbury was allowing just 4.83 shots per game.
• Junior
Jodie Baris finished with three saves in the loss for the Blue Jays. Sea Gulls' goalie Dom Farrace made six stops and Emma Vicchio added a defensive save.
