LEWISBURG, Pa. - After unfortunately having their home meet scheduled for this weekend cancelled the Dickinson women's track and field team was able to work some magic and compete in the Bison Open hosted by Bucknell University on Friday and Saturday.
Sprints
Sara Penuela took sixth in the 60m sprint with an 8.07. Her sister
Mariana Penuela did not qualify for the final after her qualifying time of 8.52 was good for 23rd.
Dickinson had four competitors involved in the 400m with Daryl Mikusova claiming 13th by clocking in at 1:01.68, while
Emerlee Simons joined her in the Top-20 with a 1:02.67 (20th).
Maddie Brown seized 23rd in 1:04.05 and
Abbe Kitchin hit the line at 1:04.90 for 28th.
Distance
A trio of Devils took part in the 3000m as
Myra Naqvi and
Maddie Garber both locked in Top-10 slots finishing in sixth (10:44.61) and ninth (10:57.71) respectively.
Elizabeth Cassell secured a 21st-place finish in 11:32.83.
Relays
In the 4x400m the team of Kitchin, Mikusova, S. Penuela and Simons hit the line in 4:12.39 for sixth beating out the next Division III institution Messiah University by 11 seconds.
Field
The Penuela sisters competed in the long jump with Sara posting a 5.06m leap for eighth, while sister Mariana landed at 4.85m (16th).
Elizabeth Lieb was the lone DC athlete during the triple jump finishing in 13th after posting a 10.31m.
Jenna Deep led a duo of Devils in the weight throw as he toss of 12.87m had her in 17th with teammate
Abby Everett in 20th thanks to a 12.24m launch.
Special
Dickinson also competed in the mixed 4x400m relay with the team of
Maddie Brown, Nolan Meinke,
Mariana Penuela and Luke Sternick breaking the DC record with a time of 4:00.05.
Next on the Track
Dickinson gets back to work on Friday afternoon at 4:30pm when they compete in the New York University Invitational.
