Day One Results
ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Freshmen
Jessica Alessi (Nassau, N.Y./Ichabod Crane) and
Kathrin O'Brien (Lynchburg, Va./Virginia Episcopal School) led the Gettysburg College women's track & field team on the opening day of the Centennial Conference (CC) Outdoor Championship on Friday at Muhlenberg College.
Alessi placed seventh in the hammer, throwing a new personal record (PR) of 113-06. Her previous PR was 105-11, which she accomplished earlier this season that landed her on the all-time outdoor top-10 list. She ranks ninth overall at Gettysburg in the event. O'Brien also claimed seventh in the 10,000-meter run (39:18.06), slicing almost two minutes off her previous PR and just .09 shy of cracking the all-time outdoor list at Gettysburg.
Sophomore
Diana Bianco Riley (Seekonk, Mass. St. Mary Academy Bay View) and senior
Paige Wesolowski (Groveland, Mass./Pentucket Regional), both just missed earning points, placing ninth in the hammer (107-09) and ninth in the pole vault (9-01.00), respectively.
Also competing on the opening day was seniors
Margot Hoagland (Plymouth, Mass./Plymouth North) and
Madison Fox (Akron, Pa./Ephrata) in the 10,000-meter run (15th, 43:05.13) and 16th, 45:08.31), respectively. Freshman
Caitlin Yap (Wayne, N.J./Morris Catholic) in the pole vault (11th, 8-07.00) and freshman
Jenna Sittineri (Cape May Court House, N.J./Middle Township) in the same event (12th, 8-07.00). Sittineri set a new PR and now ranks 10th all-time in outdoor history at Gettysburg.
