How It Happened…
  • First Half: The Bullets saw some great looks at the cage in the opening half, especially five minutes in as Lerman took the corner kick from the right side of the field. He kicked a perfect pass to sophomore Connor Fife (Newtown, Pa./Holy Ghost Prep) who headed the ball into what looked like an open net, but a Haverford defender stepped in to stop the shot. Haverford only saw the cage three times with its last shot coming under four minutes remaining.
  • Second Half: The second half was completely different from the first as the final three goals were scored in the last 13 minutes of regulation. A foul inside the penalty box eight minutes in by the Fords allowed Omosanya to take the kick. He drilled his third tally of the season and lifted Gettysburg to the one-goal lead. The Fords found a wide-open cage 12 minutes later, hoping to tie the game, but Omosanya stepped in and made the unbelievable save to hold the lead. Thomas pushed the advantage to two-goals as he blazed down the left side of the field for the tally into the lower right corner with 77:08 on the clock. The reigning CC Champions did not back down as they rattled off a goal 14 seconds later to cut Gettysburg's lead. The Fords added the game-tying goal with under three minutes left to send the game into overtime.
  • Overtime: Gettysburg kept play down in Haverford's territory, taking five shots with one being one goal, but were unable to convert. The Bullets defense stood their ground, as they did not allow Haverford any shot opportunities.
  • Double Overtime: In an entertaining match, the two team's continued to play physical in hopes to rally their team to a victory. The Fords Jannelli, who kept ripping shots towards the cage all night, took the rocketed shot in the dwindling seconds, but it went wide right.
By the Numbers
  • Gettysburg finished with the 22-14 advantage on shots.
  • The Orange and Blue held the slight 7-6 edge in corner kicks.
In the Rankings
  • In the latest United Soccer Coaches Division III Mid-Atlantic Regional Poll, Haverford was ranked No. 7 and Gettysburg was No. 9.
Quote from the Coach
"I thought we played well and our players worked very hard," said head coach Mark Mettrick. "Obviously, we thought we had earned the win being up 2-0 late in the game and it just escaped us – but credit to Haverford for fighting back."

Where the Series Stands Now
Haverford leads Gettysburg 21-7-1 in the all-time series that dates back to 1984. The Bullets last defeated the Fords in 2017 at home when Haverford was then-ranked No. 23 by the final score of 4-1. This was also the first time the two teams battled it out into double overtime.
