Men's Soccer Battles To 2-2 Draw With No. 11 F&M

LANCASTER, Pa.—Swarthmore College duked it out with the No. 11 Franklin & Marshall College Diplomats on Saturday evening. When the dust settled, the two teams were left locked in a 2-2 stalemate. Swarthmore, now 6-3-1 on the year and 2-1-1 in Centennial Conference play, sits in fourth in the league standings.

Swarthmore fell behind in the 15th minute following F&M's first tally of the game. However, just six minutes later Zach Viscusi equalized the contest with his third goal of the year. Viscusi volleyed home a pass chipped into the box by Ethan Witkowski.

The Garnet scored again in the 44th minute when Julian Bueno netted his first goal of the season. Woojin Shin crossed a ball in from the left side that Bueno buried with just 21 seconds left in the half.

Swarthmore was just one minute and 12 seconds away from winning the contest in regulation and giving F&M (8-0-2, 2-0-2) its first loss of the season, when F&M netted the equalizer, destining the teams for overtime.

In the first overtime, the Garnet didn't get a shot off, but they rattled off three attempts in the second half of extra time. Overall, Swarthmore recorded 15 attempts and eight on goal. Oliver Steinglass faced 20 shots and recorded six saves in the tie.

Swarthmore takes the field again on Wednesday at Cairn University for a 4 p.m. tilt.
