MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – Freshman
Kathrin O'Brien (Lynchburg, Va./Virginia Episcopal School) turned in a top-three finish as the Gettysburg College women's track and field team placed 12th out of 20 schools at the Millersville Metrics on Saturday.
O'Brien placed runner-up in a field of 11 in the 10,000-meter run, clocking a time of 40:58.01. Her time was the top Division III finisher in the event. Senior
Margot Hoagland (Plymouth, Mass./Plymouth North) also competed in the event and placed fifth (41:28.16). Freshman
Georgia Larzelere (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) placed seventh in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:25.26.
On the field, freshman
Caitlin Yap (Wayne, N.J./Morris Catholic) tied eighth in the pole vault with a mark of 8-4 ¼. Sophomore
Diana Bianco Riley (Seekonk, Mass./St. Mary Academy Bay View) set a new PR for the third-straight week in the hammer, throwing 107-1, while classmate
Jessica Alessi (Nassau, N.Y./Ichabod Crane) also set a new PR, tossing 92-2. Freshman
Katherine Mangione (Doylestown, Pa./Villa Joseph Marie) claimed seventh in the javelin (117-2).
The Bullets continue their season when they compete at the Messiah Invitational and Multi Thursday through next Saturday.
