Burkholder Wins Two in Women's Tennis Finale

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Summer Burkholder was a double winner for the Ursinus College women's tennis team in Saturday's season finale, a 6-3 Centennial Conference setback at Gettysburg.

Burkholder and junior partner Madisen Harvey capped the year with an unblemished 4-0 record after taking down an 8-3 victory at No. 3 doubles for the Bears, who finished 9-11 overall and 3-7 in conference play.

Burkholder did not lose a doubles match this season, going a perfect 9-0 with four different partners. She evened her overall singles record at 9-9 with a 6-2, 6-3 decision at No. 6.

No. 2 doubles was a tight one, with freshmen Maddie Russell and Cara Freedman falling just short in an 8-6 nail-biter. The rookie pairing enjoyed a terrific debut campaign, going 13-7 overall together in their first collegiate season.

Russell expanded her team-best singles record to 12-8 with a dominating 6-0, 6-1 effort at No. 2.
