Game Notes

The Franklin & Marshall volleyball team (4-5) competes in four matches this week. The Diplomats are away at Elizabethtown (9-1) on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. F&M then competes in the Electric City Invitational against Scranton (4-5) at 3:00 p.m. and Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) (3-7) at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Franklin & Marshall returns home Saturday at 1:00 p.m. for a Centennial Conference match against Ursinus (9-0).

Last Week

F&M defeated Messiah 3-1 in the first of two matches Saturday. Three Diplomats finished with double-digit kills in the match, highlighted by Gianna Mangiamele's 13 kills and .571 hitting percentage. Coco Shultz and Sydney Levins tallied 12 kills each. Liah Perez and Hannah McCarthy dished out 22 assists in the win. Franklin & Marshall had a game-high .480 team hitting percentage to win the third set. Read the recap here.

Franklin & Marshall and Houghton faced off for the first time ever Saturday afternoon, where the Diplomats swept the Highlanders, 3-0. Levins finished with 14 kills in the win. Shultz had 13 kills, while Mangiamele recorded 10 kills. Mangiamele also had a game-high .389 hitting percentage in the win. Perez finished with 22 assists, followed by McCarthy with 19 assists. Last Time

F&M swept Etown 3-0 in their 2021 matchup. Levins and Allison Franke '21 combined for 25 kills in the win. Levins also had a .542 hitting percentage. Lauren Arnold had a game-high six blocks in the win. McCarthy finished with 34 assists during the match. Read the recap here.

The Diplomats swept the Lady Royals 3-0 during their last match, in 2018. The Diplomats secured the win with a .400 hitting percentage during the third set. Franke '21 led the team in kills with 12. Grace Maggiore '20 contributed a game-high 31 assists. Maggiore '20 also had 10 digs in the win. Read the recap here.

The Tigers outlasted the Diplomats in their 2003 meeting, 3-2. F&M forced a fifth set with a 30-21 win in the fourth frame. Franklin and Marshall looks to beat RIT for the first time in program history Friday evening.

In last year's meeting, F&M swept the Bears 3-0. Nicole Carey '21 tied for the team-lead in kills with 10 in just 13 attempts (.769). Justine Amory also had 10 kills, with a .421 hitting percentage. Elizabethtown Team Preview

The Blue Jays begin the season sporting a 9-1 record with their only loss coming against Eastern. Etown has three wins against CC teams this fall, defeating Haverford, McDaniel, and Dickinson. Elizabethtown is currently on a five-game winning streak. Bryanna Miller leads the team in kills with 105. Emma Bitner has racked up 155 assists, so far this season. Katie Scaggs leads the Blue Jays in blocks with 34.

Scranton Team Preview

After back-to-back wins to start the fall season, Scranton dropped its next three matches. The Lady Royals then won two of their next four matches to hold a 4-5 record coming into Friday's match. Carah Vitkus leads the Lady Royals in kills with 128, and has a .185 hitting percentage. Caileigh Cox has dished out 306 assists this season. Sophia Hadjiyane and Abby Rzucidlo combine for 31 total blocks this fall.

RIT Team Preview

The Tigers come into the Electric City Invitational with a 3-7 record. RIT broke a six-game losing streak with a 3-0 victory against Penn State-Behrend last week. Liv Benard and Samantha Cox have combined for 191 kills this season. Sydney Neff has tallied 300 assists this season. Calista Gasper has been a wall for the Tigers on defense with 24 total blocks this fall.

Ursinus Team Preview

Ursinus holds a perfect 9-0 overall record, and has not played a CC opponent yet this season. Katie Cressman leads the Bears in kills with 111. Rachel Bernard has 109 assists, so far this fall. Reena Robinson and Caroline Sherman have 21 service aces each. Haley Spotts leads Ursinus with 17 total blocks.
