Bullets Break Three-Point Record in Loss at Dickinson

Bullets play final regular season game on Saturday

CARLISLE, Pa. After a hot-shooting first half, the Bullets were unable to hang on as Centennial Conference foe Dickinson College erased a nine-point first half deficit to rally back in the second half to take the 91-86 victory on Wednesday night.

As a team, the Bullets broke the three-pointers made in a game record with 15. The previous mark was 14, which was last done in 2002 against Lynchburg.

Five Bullets (5-19, 4-13 CC) scored in double-digits with sophomore Avery Close (Phoenixville, Pa./Phoenixville) leading the way with 21 points in 15 minutes of action. The sophomore forward also grabbed three rebounds and three assists. Junior Nick Antolini (Babylon, N.Y./Babylon) produced 18 points and team-high eight rebounds. Junior Danny Duffey (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Lower Moreland) netted 15 points on 5-of-6 shooting, including going a perfect 3-of-3 from beyond the arc, and five assists, while senior Alec Warren (Medford, N.J./Shawnee) and junior Nick Lord (Millersville, Pa./Penn Manor) each contributed 12 points. Warren went 4-of-8 from the three-point line while Lord hit 4-of-5.

Four Dickinson (10-14, 8-9 CC) players notched double-figure scoring with Bryce Allen guiding the team with 25 points.

Gettysburg knocked down three treys in the opening four and a half minutes to jump to a commanding 17-2 run. The Bullets continued to dominate in the first half as they never trailed and led by 15-points off a three-pointer by Lord with 3:52 to go. The Orange and Blue went on to tally two-more threes in the last two minutes to lift the Bullets to a 53-44 advantage heading into the locker room. The Bullets shot an astonishing first half season-best 69 percent from the field, including drilling 12-of-16 from three-point land. The Red Devils also shot the ball extremely well as they made 63 percent (17-of-27) overall.

A trey by Adam Drummond 33 seconds into the second half helped propel an 18-8 run to give the Red Devils their first lead of the game (62-61) with 13:14 remaining. Roughly four minutes later, the Bullets came within one when sophomore Evan Czulada (York, Pa./Central York) hit a jumper. A few minutes later, a 5-0 run by Dickinson pushed the advantage to seven, but Duffey and Close sank a pair of free throws to cut the deficit down to three. A three by Dickinson's Ryan Robinson and a free throw by Close in the next few possessions made it a 78-73 game. In the final 26 seconds, the Red Devils drilled five points from the charity stripe to rally back for the win.

Gettysburg finished 29-of-52 (55.8 percent) from the floor, including 15-of-26 (57.7 percent) from beyond the arc. Dickinson shot 56.4 percent (31-of-55) overall and 58.8 percent (10-of-17) from three-point range. The Bullets and Red Devils tied the rebounding battle at 26 apiece.

The Orange and Blue will finish out its season on Saturday at 4 p.m. at Muhlenberg College (12-12, 9-8 CC).
