How It Happened…
  • First Half: Both Gettysburg and Swarthmore concluded the opening half with five shots apiece. The Bullets' defense held the Garnet offense to zero shots in the final 16 minutes, while Keane turned aside three of his match-high five saves.
  • Second Half: The Garnet never trailed after Bless Tumushabe scored in the 47th minute. Joe Barile redirected a pass from the goal line left side that set up Tumushabe for the goal. Swarthmore looked to add another quick tally as they shot at the cage 59 seconds later, but Keane stopped it. Over the next several minutes, the Bullets ripped three shots but were unable to convert until the 77th minute. O'Donnell, who dished his fourth assist in three games, found Ozoh on the left side as he finished strong to the cage for the equalizer. The Garnet then took the lead when Harry Nevins scored what held up as the game-winning goal as he headed the ball in off a corner kick from the left near the right post with 85:50 on the clock. Ozoh looked to tie it up with under two minutes remaining, but his shot sailed high.
By the Numbers
  • Swarthmore finished with the slight 11-10 advantage in shots.
  • Gettysburg held the 7-2 edge corner kicks.
Centennial Conference Standings
  • As of Saturday evening, the Bullets sit in the fourth spot in the conference standings. Franklin & Marshall College is first (13-2, 6-1 CC) and is followed by Johns Hopkins University in second (12-2-1, 5-1-1 CC), Dickinson College in third (9-6, 5-2 CC), and Swarthmore College in fifth (10-2-3, 3-2-2 CC).
