BRYN MAWR, Pa. – The Centennial Conference Championship is headed back to Bream Gym once again as 22nd-ranked Gettysburg College closed out the regular season with an 86-48 victory at Bryn Mawr College and secured the playoff's top seed for the second consecutive season.
 
Needing a victory in the regular season finale to clinch home-court, Gettysburg (21-4, 18-2 CC) scored at least 23 points in each of the first three quarters and received buckets from 14 different players. The Bullets will host the semifinals and championship of the Centennial postseason tournament on Feb. 22-23. Gettysburg has hosted the event in each of its previous two conference championship seasons (2012-13, 2017-18).
 
Freshman Carly Rice (Pennington, N.J./Pennington School) went 5-of-11 from the floor with a trio of three-pointers on the way to a season-high 14 points. Rice also dished out four assists. Fellow first-year Fiona Aromando (Robbinsville, N.J./Robbinsville) tallied a season-high 12 points in just eight minutes, while classmate Christina Richson (Summit, N.J./Summit) posted nine points and three steals.
 
Cleo Elizabeth-Robertson led Bryn Mawr (1-24, 0-20 CC) with 12 points.    
 
The Owls kept the game close through the first five minutes and trailed 9-7 following a pair of free throws by Laya Paladugu with 5:32 to go in the first quarter. Rice scored her first bucket 12 seconds later to kick off a 14-2 run. Two free throws by freshman Seanna McNamara ( Berwyn, Pa./Episcopal Academy) pushed the lead to 23-9 with 2:07 left in the first period.
 
Bryn Mawr mounted its own run to get back in the game, scoring 12 of the next 14 points and slicing the margin down to four (25-21) on a lay-up by Elizabeth Chan at 5:59 of the second quarter. A pair of three-pointers by Richson highlighted a 13-point spurt by the visitors to push the lead to 38-21. The Bullets extended the margin to 20 (46-26) heading into the locker room.
 
Gettysburg netted the first 10 points of the third quarter, one point more than Bryn Mawr's total for the period (9). The Bullets led 70-35 at the end of the frame and maintained a 30-point lead throughout the final 10 minutes of action.
 
Gettysburg finished 32-of-72 (44.4 percent) from the field and 11-of-26 (42.3 percent) from beyond the arc. The Bullets out-rebounded the Owls 47-37 and committed just nine turnovers while dishing out 21 assists. The Orange and Blue bench turned in its best offensive showing of the season with a total of 63 points.
 
Joining Gettysburg in next week's tournament will be Johns Hopkins University (21-3, 17-2 CC), Haverford College (19-6, 15-5 CC), Ursinus College (16-8, 13-6 CC), and Muhlenberg College (15-10, 11-9 CC). Muhlenberg will play at Ursinus in the first round on Tuesday, Feb. 19. Gettysburg will meet the winner of the first-round game in a semifinal game on Friday, while Johns Hopkins and Haverford will play in the other semi. Official game times and ticket information will be released on Monday.
 
Gettysburg secured its second Centennial title with a 44-35 victory over Haverford in front of a loud and boisterous crowd inside Bream Gym last season.
