Abington, Pa. -- Swarthmore College Women's Basketball opened up its 2018-19 season with a 69-54 loss at non-conference opponent Penn State Abington on Tuesday night.
The Nittany Lions (1-0) went on a 9-1 run during the final 2:42 of the first quarter to take an 18-9 lead over the Garnet.
Swarthmore used all 10 players on its roster and kept it close over the next three quarters but didn't win any of them as PSU-Abington cruised to victory.

Faith Nation led the Garnet scoring attack with 12 on the night, going 5-of-7 from the free-throw line with one triple. Freshman

Kim Kockenmeister for the team lead with six rebounds.
The Garnet are playing host to three schools on Friday and Saturday for their first action of the season at Tarble Pavilion. Swarthmore plays Goucher College on Friday at 5 p.m. and Wesleyan University on Saturday at 3 p.m. Wesleyan plays Cabrini University at Tarble on Friday at 7 p.m., and Cabrini and Goucher face each other on Saturday at 1 p.m.
